Buddy Baker, the family man, comes home!
Ah the war is over... time to take stock and rebuild. Compared to last week this week seems pretty light.
  • Buddy deserves to be happy. Please don't mess it up for him.
  • Passing time till Donner's return
  • "Hell hath no fury..."
  • Dream a little Dream Girl (in interlac)
  • Dominating the Dominators
  • Black Bolt's rebel yell

What did Red Tornado see out there?
52 WEEK #51 $2.50
After reading the wonderful preview over at Newsarama I am terrified that something bad is going to happen to Animal Man and his family. Buddy Baker has been a valuable role model proving that you can be a loving father and a super hero at the same time. I would hate to see his life torn apart the way that Ralph Dibney's or even Red Tornado's have been. I am assuming that these last two issues will be more like epilogues though. Tying up loose ends and giving us hints of what is to come.

Gotta love this intermission... wonder if there is anything good at the snack bar?
ACTION COMICS #848 $2.99
Well I suppose that filler stories are better than no stories at all. Well except for the fact that I am forking over money for issues that are not in the main storyline. Richard Donner's story was very interesting, but he is a busy man... too busy for his responsibilities to this book it seems. So to fill the time we are given one shots, two shots, flash forward issues and even a 3-D issue to placate us while we wait for the storyline to continue. Sigh. Why am I picking this issue up? Well I guess I'm too lazy to take it off my pull list only to put it back on again in a few months. I assume that is what Bob Wayne is counting on.

You knew they'd be back.
AMAZONS ATTACK #1 (OF 6) $2.99
Ah a book about female power written by a man... I haven't been picking up Wonder Woman lately so I don't know how Themyscira returned or why the Amazon's are attacking. This series is promising cameos by most of the DCU and may have a lasting impact. Issue three shows what appears to be Supergirl and Wonder Girl taking up arms on the side of the warrior women, so there must be a good reason for the attack.

Fun with Doctor Destiny!
JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #5 $2.99
Fun with Doctor Destiny! With Doctor Destiny mining the brains of Dream Girl and the rest of the Arkham inmates there should be a lot of fun moments. Maybe there will be some some appearances by dream versions of legion allies and enemies. In the preview on Newsarama Commissioner Gordon says that Darkseid was spotted inside Arkham. That could be Nura's dream, but I assume there are several in Arkham who had dealings with Darkseid. Sandman says he saw Batman "torn to shreds" in one of his prophetic dreams. I am sure there are plenty of people inside Arkham dreaming of Batman's demise. Destiny could take his pick. This issue will at the very least give us the reunion of Dream Girl and Star Boy and a deeper insight into Sandy Hawkin's character.

As long as I get at least one smart ass remark from Brainiac 5 I'll be good.
SUPERGIRL AND THE LEGION OF SUPER HEROES #29 $2.99
Only two issues left till the end of the Waid/Kitson era. It seems like a very short time to wrap up the war with the Dominators and resolve all of the dangling plot points lying about. From future solicitations it looks like Cosmic Boy is about to do something pretty controversial. It will be interesting to see how this alters the team dynamic. I'm hoping we get some more insight to the nature of what Dream Girl has become and what will happen to the Wanderers and Sun Boy's team (do they have a name?) after this struggle is over.

Why am I still buying this?
SILENT WAR #4 (OF 6) $2.99
I know I keep threatening to drop this book, and I still may after this issue seeing as I doubt we will be seeing anymore of Quicksilver in it after last issue, but that cover is so terrifying that I have to find out what happens (nice work John Watson). If I recall correctly in the Earth X plot line a yell from Black Bolt took out Galactus. Looks like we are mostly going to be reading about some weirdness between Maximus the Mad (It would be nice to have an Inhuman's plot line that isn't the result of Maximus the Mad's meddling), Medusa and Black Bolt. Interestingly enough when all this wraps up Atillan is the first stop in World War Hulk. Could that be what Pietro saw in the future?
